The Alpilles :The Rocky plateau immortalized by van Gogh provides breathtaking panoramic views.  Limestone cliffs dotted with protected scrubland of the “garrigue” hosts pine and almond trees, wild thyme and rosemary and at least 16 wineries. A fun way to taste your way through the Alpilles. Many villages in the Alpilles have summer Roman festivals with catapults and jousting.

The Baux de Provence : This magnificent citadel village in the Alpilles has been classified as “one of the most beautiful villages of France.” Its buildings and cobblestone streets been restored with loving care. You’ll find magic at each turn: Numerous museums, art galleries, craft centers and shops offering everything Provencal from olives to perfumes to linens. Lex baux is not to be missed, it’s a true treasure.

Tarascon : A thriving medieval town right on the Rhône river, at the crossroads to the routes to Avignon, the Camargue and Luberon. Tarascon is still today associated with fables, legends and lore. Farmers market on Tuesdays and Flea Market on Sundays.

The Camargue : A massive 800 kilometer  natural wetland reserve for flora and fauna within an expansive National  Park of 30,000 hectares spanning between the Mediterranean sea and the Rhone river.  Home to 400 species of birds including pink Flamingos and famous for their Camargue horses and bulls. Here they harvest sea salt and grow red rice.
